Knowledge
is power but has little value unless it can be easily accessed and put into practice.
I
got into that years ago when I identified a great potential in our field to
bring hope and to serve as a purpose. Last year I was involved in a Stroke
Awareness Program in the childhood population focused on good health habits and
early Stroke recognition because in our country a great number of kids are
responsible or in charge of the elderly population care. We´re absolutely
convinced that this kind of programs represent a real and effective prevention
mindset for the future. The program involves didactic sessions, playground
activities about neurological signs, a science fair where the kids may create
solutions against Acute Ischemic Stroke and other complex and challenging
situations.
I´m
really lucky to be part of ANGIOTEAM , a scientific
group that shares vast experience in stroke care through a multispecialty
approach. Here in Medellin we have a very well structured and stablished
courses for LATAM INR about stroke management and Intracranial aneurysms
treatment using the state of the art currently available. Personally,
I´ve been involved in multiple Neuro-simulation courses, I’m responsible for
the vascular models such as biological low-cost models and the animal lab.
